    █► Directions: To use the chat room, go to the HEA Chat Room below. Enter a nickname ("username"), click on the "Enter Chat Room" button and you're in. Usernames are not saved— you do not need to remember it for your next chat session. You can type in a short "profile" of yourself if you want. Only the Moderator needs to type in a password. The chat room is at the top right, the list of people in the chat room is at the top left, and a box on the bottom is where you enter your remarks (click on "Send" when you're ready to send your remarks to the chat room).

    █►Requirements for your computer:  You must have Java on your computer and you must have Javascript enabled in your browser. If you have firewall software running, set it to allow access. Most computers have Java installed, if your doesn't have it, go to Sun to download it. To enable Javascript:

Internet Explorer

  1. Select 'Tools' from the top menu
  2. Choose 'Internet Options'
  3. Click on the 'Security' tab
  4. Click on 'Custom Level'
  5. Scroll down until you see section labled 'Scripting'
  6. Under 'Active Scripting', select 'Enable' and click OK

Netscape Navigator

  1. Select 'Edit' from the top menu
  2. Choose 'Preferences'
  3. Choose 'Advanced'
  4. Choose 'Scripts & Plugins'
  5. Select the 'Enable JavaScript' checkbox and click OK

Mozilla Firefox (1.0)

  1. Select 'Tools' from the top menu
  2. Choose 'Options'
  3. Choose 'Web Features' from the left navigation
  4. Select the checkbox next to 'Enable JavaScript' and click OK

Mozilla Firefox (1.5)

  1. Select 'Tools' from the top menu
  2. Choose 'Options'
  3. Choose 'Content' from the top navigation
  4. Select the checkbox next to 'Enable JavaScript' and click OK

Apple Safari

  1. Select 'Safari' from the top menu
  2. Choose 'Preferences'
  3. Choose 'Security'
  4. Select the checkbox next to 'Enable JavaScript'
If you used to be able to use the chat room but it now will not start or accept your username, empty your caches (the places where web files are stored) and restart your computer. To learn how to clear your browser's cache, use your browser's HELP menu. To clear the Java cache, right click on the Java icon in your system tray, select Java Control Panel, select Temporary File Settings, select Delete Files, select both kinds of files, and click on OK.

  1. Open Discussion:  Sunday mornings at 11:00 AM US Eastern Time (3:00 PM Greenwich Mean Time)

  2. New! Open Discussion: Sunday evenings at 7:00 PM US Eastern Time (11:00 PM Greenwich Mean Time)

  3. Parents of Children with Hypospadias/Epispadias:  Sunday evenings at 9:00 PM US Eastern Time

  4. Weekly Chat for Europeans:  New Time: Friday evenings at 7:00 PM (Greenwich Mean Time)

  5. New! Teen Chat: Friday evenings at 8:00 PM US Eastern Time (12 midnight Greenwich Mean Time)

    █►   We need people to "moderate" the parent/family chat, currently scheduled for 9 P.M. ET on Sundays. All you need to do is log in, welcome folks as they join in, and remain in the chat room for that hour so people will know the chat room will be there every week. You can volunteer to moderate every week, every other week, once a month--we'll work out a schedule so the chat room is covered. Please contact Betty if you're interested.
