Epispadias: Medical Issues
John Gearhart, M.D., is a pediatric urologist at Johns Hopkins University. I attended Dr. Gearhart’s lecture at the HEA Conference this year and found it to be extremely informative. He presented the material in such a way that I could understand and absorb the information. What I found most helpful and hopeful was that Dr. Gearhart took the time to talk with me about my son’s bladder exstrophy following the session. He offered to see my son as soon as possible. Since then, we have traveled to Johns Hopkins, where Dr. Gearhart preformed exploratory surgery and met with us personally for close to one hour. He took the time to explain my son’s medical needs, the procedures necessary, and how this would affect his emotional self. Our experience was only positive, and we feel fortunate to have attended his workshop at the 2009 HEA Conference.
